Honesty and Experience Matter

I wanted to reach out and share with you some exciting news about our campaign.

Earlier this week I was honored to receive the endorsement of Governor Greg Abbott of my campaign for re-election as your Bee County Sheriff. I consider this to be a very high honor and one I take seriously.

In his endorsement, the Governor said:

“Sheriff Alden Southmayd is an exemplary conservative leader who works tirelessly to keep Texas a law-and-order state,” said Governor Abbott. “His tough-on-crime policies have helped ensure dangerous criminals are kept behind bars. Sheriff Alden Southmayd’s record of serving hardworking Texans of Bee County and upholding the rule of law is why I am proud to endorse him for his re-election bid.”

In my time as Sheriff, I have certainly tried to manage conservatively, pursuing grant-funding instead of tax increases, implementing technology to serve as a force-multiplier in our efforts to curb criminal activity and working collaboratively with others in law enforcement locally, regionally and statewide. In fact, one reason I believe the Governor endorsed me is that we have been actively involved in briefing him on South Texas issues associated with increased border activity and we’ve supported Operation Lone Star, one of his signature law enforcement initiatives.

To be honest, it is quite humbling to have the support of both the current governor of Texas Greg Abbott and the former Governor of Texas, Rick Perry. But the support I appreciate the most is yours, and I humbly request your vote again in the March Republican Primary.  Early voting begins February 20th

If you’d like to visit in person, please join me at 10 a.m. Saturday morning (tomorrow) at the old Dog & Bee for a campaign Meet and Greet.  I hope you can join me tomorrow, and I hope I can count on your vote as your sheriff.
